What is NITOS? |
|
NITOS was set up as a result of the need for a centre dedicated to research and study of the Theatre Organ. An additional need was felt for a central point for the safe storage of archive material, which which could be available for reference and study purposes. The Scottish Theatre Organ Preservation Society recognised this need and has set up NITOS which makes it possible to study the history of the instrument, learn about the tonal qualities, playing techniques, and workings of the instrument, all under the one roof. The Institute is housed in the New Palace Centre, which is the home of the Scottish Theatre Organ Preservation Society. A major advantage of this arrangement is the access to the theatre pipe organs at the Centre. You can visit the sponsoring organisation, the Scottish Theatre Organ Preservation
Society at www.stops.org
