The New Palace Centre

The New Palace Centre became the principal home of STOPS in 1993.  It is named in honour of the first of the theatre pipe organs to be installed into the building, that instrument being based on the HiLSDON unit organ from the Palace Picture House, Princes Street, Edinburgh.  The National Institute of Theatre Organ Studies (NITOS) is also situated here.  The centre is now host to several facilities of interest to the theatre organ lover.

  • The Electronic Organ Collection

  • 35/16mm film projection showing silents to modern day masterpieces of the cinema

  • The NITOS archive of recordings, printed music and research documents

It is also a centre with an interesting future ahead of it.  Detailed plans are now in place to enlarge it.
